ECCTCM is closely following the ongoing EU herbal medicinal products regulative and implementation process. Current activities are focused on the preparation of basic documents (monographs and core-data) for the registration of traditional Chinese herbal medicinal products in EU member states.

Chinese herb monographs
According to the EMEA Note for Guidance on Quality of Herbal Medicinal Products, a complete monograph for each herbal substance is required for the registration of herbal medicinal products. If monographs have been established by the EMEA Committee for Herbal Medicinal Products (HMPC), the applicant may refer to these monographs. However, these monographs will not be available any time soon. Therefore ECCTCM took the initiative to prepare monographs for Chinese herbs to be used by its members for the registration of traditional Chinese herbal medicinal products.

Chinese Core-data

Chinese herb core-data are prepared based on the above mentioned monographs. Core-data are necessary to facilitate Mutual recognition of marketing authorisation and to minimise the need for CPMP arbitration.

Chinese Herbal Digest

Chinese Herbal Digest is an ECCTCM newsletter that provides regulatory and policy information on traditional herbal medicines and food supplements. Chinese Herbal Digest also carries industry and research news on Chinese herbal medicines. Chinese Herbal Digest is published irregularly.
